The Cylon Tankers from the Original Series by Chris Larson

For those that saw the original Battlestar Galactica on the big cinema screen, and I'm talking about the classic series, remember at the beginning of the show Apollo and his brother Zack was patrolling in their Mark I Vipers when they came across empty Cylon Tankers? A scan found the tankers to be empty and it was later discovered this was a prelude to an all out attack by the Cylons on the Colonies. A Cylon squadron suddenly appeared and intercepted them and Zack was killed trying to get back to the Galactica.

Here are some images from the show to help you remember:

Images of the Studio Model

I know of some Battlestar fans from across the globe who have been trying to scratchbuild this tanker for years and only a few have succeeded coming up with a studio scale model. And I do know of some trying to scratchbuild this tanker but have since given up. If you are a big fan of the original series and am looking to complete your BSG collection, you need not scratchbuild yours anymore, or dream about owning one. Chris Larson of Larson Designs have made this possible with a kit ready for you.

USD100 bucks for an 18" 94 piece kit is a real bargain and you will be getting a very good quality kit that comes highly detailed. All you need to do is just to assemble and paint her. Easy right? Ha ... lets see your painting talents my friend .. just kidding. If you look at the actual studio model, I think the problem area will be weathering her. I'd love to see some images of some fan build tankers done up with good weathering effects. That will certainly make their build stand out more from others.
