Here's part 4 for the Studio Model of the mighty Galactica. In case you came in midway, please read part 1 first about the model. Images here have been scaled back by 50% so if you want more images in their original sizes, you'll need to go to Modelermagic.com. Some of these were taken elsewhere but I can't find the links now to link these back.

Part 1 - Reference for the Classic Battlestar Galactica Studio Model
For those still trying to accurize their Revellogram Galactica kit, and are worried about "rivet counter comments", here are a lot of images from the Studio Model taken courtesy of Kurt Kuhn of Modelermagic.com. These were taken from the Gary Cannavo Collection, and the images have been proclaimed by Mr. Kuhn to become "Public Domain", meaning everyone now have access to them.
Hence with respect to Mr. Kuhn, I am presenting some of them here. Please note that all images highlighted here from that site have been scaled back by 50%. If you wish to have those really nice BIG juicy images and there are lots of them, you will need to go to the link above to get them.
Do take note that although this studio model is the same one used during the filming of the TV series, restoration work was being done to her at the time these images were taken. Hence they are not accurate in terms of what was seen on TV. According to Mr. Kuhn with regards to this studio model:
"Now, it should be noted that these photos were taken by Chris Pappas directly after the Mark Bradley restoration was done. What this means is that while these photos are detailed, this is not accurate (part for part) to how it was originally seen on screen.
However, the good news is that the owner of the Galactica Studio Filming Model, and my friend, Gary Cannavo has since spent thousands of dollars restoring this original filming model to it’s original specs… part for part! It can now be seen in it’s original glory on Gary’s site BATTLEBUCK.COM "
So you can use them as a source of reference but if you are adamant about building yours as accuragte as possible, you will need to screen capture scenes from the show. Here are some screen caps of how the mighty ship did look like on screen :

Fantastic Build-ups of the Classic Battlestar Galactica, and some WIP Reports
Here are some updates on some of the build-ups for the classic original series Galactica using the Revellogram kit. Some of these were already highlighted HERE, and two notable build-ups which I am following are those from Cosmos and Robiwon . Their work so far have been very impressive and I can only guess how long its going to take for them to complete their kits, judging by the amount of details they're planning to put into their builds.
Looking at Cosmos' work, I do believe he is going with the 70 - 80% scratch building route as you can see the areas being replaced with styrene sheets and other detailed work done on his kit. His bridge layout so far looks really good, and I like what he's doing with those gaps on the side of the Galactica's head section.
It looks like Robiwon is incorporating the Sub-Level 3 accurate panel sets with his, as well as scratch building the entire bridge section. He will be lighting his kit, something I look forward to seeing.
Also interesting to note are the exchange between these two modelers on their attempt to create an accurate classic Battlestar Galactica.
The resources are of course available on the net if you're looking for accurate parts and reference materials but of course if you feel you don't have the patience nor the skill, you could always opt for Timeslip Creations 1/4105 scale Galactica kit. This is how TC's kit looks like after Scott Spicer worked on her .. fantastic work on an already beautiful kit. Click HERE for more images
And of course where the classic Battlestar is concern, the name Jim Creveling is an established household name, especially when you see his impressive 73" build-up of the Battlestar Atlantia. Click HERE for more images
A real inspiration to others, and intimidation for the rest who plans to up the stake with a better or bigger kit. And knowing us humans, some brave soul did, as seen with these images I had in my archieve. I don't have the link where I got these images, nor do I know who build her, but I do know this beauty was in a Wonderfest event some time ago. I think this build required at least 5 people to carry her into the hall ... and the details .. WOW!!!
So, for those who owns the Revellogram kit but has yet to get started on her, do you feel inspired yet? If you are ready for the challenge, then perhaps I can help you by providing a bunch of images of the actual studio model. I plan to highlight these later in the week and they will be useful, especially when you consider a few sections of the Classic Battlestar were seldom seen on TV.
